Do you sell real paintings or prints?

We only sell 100% handmade oil paintings, hand painted by experienced artists. These are oil on canvas genuine masterpieces and each stroke, texture and nuance is created by hand. We use no printing, pressing or any technological tricks to create our paintings. You can see examples of how the paintings are made in the Painting Process section.

Can I order a different size?

Because each oil painting is individually commissioned, we can be very flexible to meet your needs. While we only display standard sizes, you may order any size that you wish. Please contact as for a quote at Sales@ToPortraits.com or simply click on the "Ask a question" button for any inquiries or questions and we will gladly contact you in 12 - 24 hours time.

How long will it take for me to receive my painting?

If an item is listed as "In Stock", it will be ready for shipment within 24-48 hours. Otherwise, our standard processing time for most "made to order" items is approximately 14 - 21 days to paint and ship from when it was commissioned, depending on the complexity of the painting. Please let us know if you have a deadline to meet. We will inform you in advance when the painting has finished and will be shipped to your address.

*The processing time is always listed on the Details section of the listing and will give you an estimate time as for how long it should take to complete and ship your painting.

Do your artists sign the paintings?

As a rule we don't ask the artists to sign the painting. However, they are more than willing to do so. Just let us know if you'd like a signature.

Will the oil painting I order look like the picture on the listing page?

All of the oil paintings displayed on our store depict the actual works of art painted by our artists. Our professional photography department takes high resolution photographs of the oil paintings in our extensive in-stock inventory and then displays those photos on our listings. We do that so our customers can truly judge the quality of our oil paintings before they make a purchase.

You must see our paintings in person to truly appreciate the fine attention to detail and the rich colors and textures that are evident in every hand-painted masterpiece we sell. As beautiful as they appear on our listing, our oil paintings are 10 TIMES more beautiful in person!

*Please Note: We may stock more than one oil painting in inventory for each oil painting displayed on our store and since each oil painting is entirely hand-painted by an individual artist, one can expect some minor variations in the actual oil painting you receive and the picture sown on the listing page.

Are the oil paintings delivered framed or unframed?

Most of our paintings are shipped unframed unless otherwise noted in the Details section of the listing.

Can I frame my painting?

Absolutely! We offer two different ways to stretch your painting as a ready-to-hang work of art; museum wrap and gallery wrap.

  • Gallery Wrap - Gallery wraps are a streamlined, contemporary way to display art on canvas. The canvas is folded over the edge of a wooden stretcher frame and is attached to the back. The picture flows cleanly around covering the sides. When the art is hung, it presents a continuous display of the image, uninterrupted by a white margin or side staples.

  • Museum Wrap - Museum Wraps are a standard way to present art on canvas. Only a small amount of the art folds over the edge and the sides are left white, maximizing the image presentation for framing. Museum Wraps look best when paired with a frame.
Your painting will be shipped stretched and ready to hang on your wall. Simply send us an email with the frame style you prefer, and we will respond with a pricing quote within 24 hours of receiving your request.

What are oil painting reproductions?

Oil painting reproductions are hand painted recreations of original paintings. Reproductions are an exciting opportunity to actually own some of the world's greatest paintings without having to spend millions of dollars or purchase cheap lifeless prints. The vibrant, rich, textured colors from our oil painting reproductions can only be achieved by slowly hand-painting with the best quality oil paints available. We do not use any short-cuts, production line teamwork, and no machines are involved. Each painting is painted by your own and exclusive dedicated artist.

Do the reproductions look exactly like the original?

Because these reproductions are hand painted, there will always be slight variations between the originals and our reproductions. We examine the works that we commission very carefully and make sure that our reproductions contain similar brushstrokes and techniques used by the original artist.

Since our artists work from a blank canvas, there's no limit to what they can create. Can I send you an old black and white photo to be painted in color?

Yes, many of our customers turn old and damaged photographs into beautiful portraits. Such details can be added as color or even corrections to parts of the photographs that are damaged. Although we do prefer as clear photographs as possible to work with, in cooperation with our customers we have created some excellent art work from some very poor, old photographs. If the photo is too damaged, it may help to provide other images to help with details.

Can I send in more than one photo to help provide details?

Many of our customers send in extra photos solely to provide details and clarity that may be missing in the main photograph to be rendered into an oil painting. This is very helpful to our artists and helps to assure that the end result is as close to perfect as possible. Many customers also send in extra photos to have details added.

Can you combine images from more than one photograph into a single painting?

Yes, we can! You can send several photographs and have subjects from each placed together into a single painting. Simply give us detailed instructions when placing your order. We don't charge extra for this service.

Can I send a photo before ordering? (Just to make sure that the quality is good, or to get a quote)

Yes, you can. Simply send the photos as attachments to and we will get back to you. You can send us the photo to Sales@ToPortraits.com, and if we think that the photos are not good enough, we will ask you for better photos.

Can I choose a background for my painting?

Yes, you can! We do it at no extra cost. If you would like a different background you can simply send us a reference photo to support your specific request.

How much does a painting from a photo cost?

One of the main goals of our company is to make painted portraits affordable for as many people as possible. All our work is 100% handmade and created by top artists; still we manage to offer very competitive prices. Do I pay upfront for the painting or when I receive it?

You pay when you place your order with us. Before we begin working on your painting, we need to know that you have the means to pay for it. All online transactions work this way, and keep in mind that all paintings ordered from ToPortraits are backed by our 100% money back guarantee.

Can I preview my painting before receiving it?

Absolutely! Once the painting from your photo is ready, we will contact you for you to review it online. Most of our customers are happy with their first preview. However, if you feel that any modifications should be made, we receive your feedback, make the requested modifications and send it back to you for confirmation. Only then, the custom painting is sent to you.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes! We ship almost everywhere in the world! If your country is not listed, then we are unable to ship to that location.

What shipping service levels do you offer?

At this time, we only ship our products by express mail via EMS, TNT or DHL, using a 3-6 day expedited service (most parcels are delivered in 3-4 days). All shipments are insured and are hand delivered to the shipping address you provide.

Where do you ship your items from?

Our company warehouse and offices are located in Israel and China. Most of our in-stock items are usually shipped from our warehouse in Israel, but we ship depending on availability. For example, any made-to-order piece will be shipped directly from our painting studio located in Xiamen, China. * Please note your shipping charge will not be affected by this.

What is the delivery commitment for all shipments?

Our usual delivery time to the United States and Canada is 3-5 business. Delivery within Europe is 3-4 business days, and delivery time to South America, Asia and Australia is a bit longer and usually takes 4-6 business days to arrive.

When will my order ship?

We ship all in-stock orders within 24-48 hours of payment receipt Monday through Friday. Orders that are paid on Friday and Saturday are shipped on Monday. NOTE: ToPortraits is closed on Saturday and Sunday, but our customer support team is available 24/7 and will get back to you with any question ask within the next 12- 24 hours, guaranteed.

What precautions are taken to ship your art safely to the customer?

Due to the caliber of the product, we take extra care to ship it to you safely. If you choose to frame your painting, it is packaged in bubble wrap and shipped in a double customize hardcover box. Unframed art will be shipped in a protective, hard plastic tube.

Is my package insured?

Absolutely! ToPortraits guarantees your satisfaction and we will give you a refund, an exchange or a replacement for purchased items you are not satisfied with. In the remote event that your package is lost or damaged upon arrival, please contact our customer Support Team via email at Sales@ToPortraits.com.

How is my order packaged?

The quality of your shipment is our priority and the materials we use to pack our products reflect our commitment. Rest assured, if your order contains a combination of these items, they will ship separately in the appropriate packaging, and you will not be charged additional shipping.

  • Unframed Art: Rolled with protective wrapping paper and packaged in a cardboard tube.

  • Framed Items: Covered with protective bubble wrap and packaged in a durable cardboard box.

How shipping costs is determined?

We work hard every day to bring you the lowest possible shipping cost. The shipping cost for most items is based on the item's size, weight, shipping method and delivery address. It also includes a small fee for insuring the full value of your item(s) against possible theft or damage while in air or transit. The total shipping and handling cost is clearly listed in every ToPortraits item description. *Certain items are sometimes offered with a Free Shipping or percentage discount. Please note we reserve the right to change or discontinue them at any time.

I purchased a few items from you during the same timeframe. Can you ship them together?

Yes, shipping costs are calculated based on the total weight of the item(s) being shipped. ToPortraits enables continuous invoice consolidation during checkout. We allow no more than 24-48 hours between the first and the last items added to the checkout. We allow no more than 10 line items per consolidated invoice. Your actual shipping and handling cost will automatically compute on checkout.

*Please note: In-stock items are ship immediately. If your order contains items which are currently unavailable, your order will be split into multiple shipments at no additional shipping cost.

Is there a tracking number assigned to my order?

Yes, tracking numbers are assigned to all of our shipments immediately after the shipment is packaged and a shipping label has been printed.

How do I get my tracking number?

The tracking numbers for each day's shipped orders are automatically emailed within 24 hours.

A shipping discount of 20% will be applied at checkout on all combined orders of 2 or more items. Discount does not include freight shipments.

I have not been e-mailed a tracking number. How should I proceed?

Shipment notification e-mails often fall prey to spam-blockers. Please check your spam folder before contacting ToPortraits for a tracking number. If you have not received a tracking number from us within 48 hours of payment receipt, please e-mail Sales@ToPortraits.com and we can complete your request for a tracking number.

What do I do if my shipment never arrived?

Please allow up to 10 business days for your item to be delivered. If it still has not arrived, please contact the carrier company with your tracking number to find out the status of your delivery. Please feel free to e-mail Sales@ToPortraits.com with any questions.

What payment methods do you accept?

At the moment we only accept PayPal payments from eBay users. It's simply the safer and easier way to pay and get paid online and allows you to pay in any way you prefer, including through credit cards, bank accounts, buyer credit or account balances, without sharing your financial information. Do you charge sales tax?

Because ToPortraits sends its products from China or Israel, our customers do not have to pay any sales tax or export duties when they purchase from our store.

What is your guarantee and return policy?

At ToPortraits, your satisfaction is our #1 goal! We are so confident in the quality of our products that if you are not satisfied with your purchase simply return it and we'll give you full refund. Products sold by ToPortraits are supported by our Standard Return Policy unless otherwise indicated. Merchandise covered by our Standard Return Policy may be returned within 14 days of the original invoice date for a refund or replacement.

* Our Standard Return policy do not apply to our commissioned work or framed art and a restocking fee of up to 75% of the total will be assessed.

Who covers the return shipping cost?

ToPortraits will take care of all shipping charges related to the return or exchange of defective and damaged products or are confirmed by a ToPortraits representative to be defective. If the return is a result of our error, you won't be charged for return shipping.

For all other cases, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Under no circumstance does ToPortraits reimburse (or provide credit) for return shipping costs incurred by the customer. If a product is damaged or defective, the recipient must make arrangements with ToPortraits support as to how the return should be handled prior to placing the items back in transit to ToPortraits.
