|How We Got Started|
MCC started in the parents' garage of owners Greg & Geoff Mellinger in 1976. They were racing motocross and learned how to maintain and rebuild motorcycles. Before they knew it, their parents had to stop parking their cars in the garage because of all the customer bikes! Fast forward to January of 1980, the brothers opened the doors to the first MCC dealership & service location!! First with partners, until the summer of 1981. The brothers initially had full-time "real" jobs and ran MCC in the evenings part-time. The partners didn't see any future in the business (fools!) and Greg & Geoff purchased a controlling interest in the company. Husqvarna was the first line of motorcycles added to the showroom floor. Soon after, MCC was able to stock, sell, and repair a full-model line-up of what was then the most dominant marque in off-road motorcycling. In 1983, Laverda Streetbikes was added to the collection fueling their growing passion for Italian made machinery. Two years later they added the brand Cagiva to the line-up. At the time, Cagiva was in control of Ducati Motorcycles. There were only a few models available from Ducati, but the name was still widely known even then. By 1987, Ducati was on the gas with a flurry of new models, and MCC kept getting busier and busier! In 1989, MCC took on KTM Motorcycles. By then, the Cagiva group (who was also in control of Husqvarna) fumbled, and MCC needed another great off-road European brand to fill the place of Husqvarna. A new era began in 1992 when the most respected brand came out of Europe...Triumph Motorcycles! Greg sent a letter to Triumph headquarters in England (truly not expecting a reply) and low and behold Triumph actually invited Greg to go see the new product they were launching in Canada in 1993. As soon as he saw the product, MCC was on board and became one of the first Triumph Motorcycle dealers in the USA! 1999 came the addition of two more great new brands from Italy. Aprilia and MV Agusta Motorcycles. Aprilia provided a different flavor of V-twin for our customers. And MV Agusta came with four cylinder powerplants. MV Agusta also has the finest craftsmanship of any machine they have ever seen their 25 years experience. Unfortunately between the years 2005-2006, Aprilia sought to take their product in a completely different direction and MCC decided to part ways with Aprilia in spring 2006. In 2012, huge changes came in the way of moving MCC to a new 20,000 plus sq ft state of the art facility. Now looking the way a proper European motorcycle dealership should!!
