General Interest

If you already have a pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses and you love how they fit --  compare their measurements with those on our frames.

  • Measure inside, across the front, from hinge to hinge

  • Measure outside, across the front, from widest point to widest point

  • Measure full temples from the hinge to the end that goes behind the ear

Check inside the temple arms (or under the bridge) for the size. The firstRetroFocals - Eye frame measurements number is the Eye Size, followed by a dash or a square, then the bridge size some space and then the temple size.

Notes about true vintage eyeframes:

  • They usually run smaller...our heads have gotten bigger over the years!

  • Do not expect perfection, these frames are 30 - 50 years old.

  • For a perfect fit, temples will need adjustment or straightening when fitted with your own lenses.

  • The temples (ear pieces) often have warping caused by the frames sitting folded up for so many years. This can be easily adjusted by your eye care specialist.

  • The frames can be gently heated and then molded to fit your face perfectly.

  • The curve that goes over your ear can also be lengthened in the same manner
