The nutcracker was wrapped in a single sheet of brown paper inside the cardboard box. It poked a couple of holes in the box but wasn't damaged. It should be protected better. It's painted black and the paint comes off on the edges and where the pivot points cause metal to rub together. It is super heavy-duty. I think I could crush rocks with it. It has four tabs with holes so it can be securely bolted to a table or something, although that is not necessary to operate it.
