Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you offer combined shipping?
A: We certainly do. As we always strive to match the actual shipping cost with the amount collected. For items less than one lbs, we use regular shipping for the first item, $1-2 for each additional item. If your total weight is more than two lbs, we may ship by flat rate box or Fedex ground, and charge according to those rates.
Q: Do you offer Local Pick Up or Visitation?
A: We are Internet only and do not have a local retail shop. However, if you are coming the Las Vegas, please visit Moon-Sunlandscapes.com or Springspreserve.org. They both sell a good selection of cactus and succulent plants to the public.
Q: How large does this plant get?
A: Size typically depends on climate. If you are in an area warm enough to grow year around, the plant will grow as much as 50% larger than if you have freezing winters. You can also check desert-tropicals.com for estimated mature sizes.
Q: Can you ship to my country?
A: We can only ship live plants to The United States of America.
Q: Will this plant survive outside in my climate?
A: Check desert-tropicals.com for climate information. You can also find valuable information from one of Yahoo's many cactus and succulents chat groups.
Q: How much is the Shipping and Handling Charge?
A: Use the shipping calculator in the item description near the bottom of the page. You can also view shipping charges for multiple items of the same type. See below for information on combined shipping discounts.
Q: When will I receive my package?
A: We ship on Mon. in the fall/winter, then on Mon. and Wed. in the spring/summer. Items weighing less than 5lbs ship by USPS priority. Those weighing more ship by FedX ground 3-5 business day delivery. Tracking numbers are emailed by Fedex when your label is printed. Check your spam box if you don't see a FedX email. USPS tracking no. is not sent.
Q: Am I bidding on the plant pictured?
A: The auction description will state that you are bidding on the plant pictured. Otherwise, it will be a plant of the same size, but may have a different number of branches or stems. If we have more than 25 of an item, all the same size, its not economically feasible to take a pictured of each one. However, you will receive one will be the same size.
Q: Can you ship to another address?
A: Yes. We use ebay's Seller Manager Pro to print labels. Special requests for shipping to another address do not show up. Please add other addresses in your paypal account profile. Then select the alternate address when you check out. Also, special delivery instructions, such as "2nd floor" can be added to your address profile.
Q: I'm watching some of next weeks auctions so I can get combined shipping. Is this okay?
A: We'd like to limit combined shipping to 14 days because otherwise the sold items may get relisted by mistake.
Q: Do you combine auction winnings to save on shipping?
A: Yes. You'd pay the regular shipping on the heaviest or most expensive item, then, typically $1-3 for each additional item depending on value or weight. However, if you won 2 barrel cacti that weigh 20 pounds each, we'd need to charge accordingly. We try to keep shipping as fair and inexpensive as possible for you. We send invoices on Sunday evening
Q: How do you handle winter shipping? Heat packs?
A: We can hold your plants until you think its safe to ship. We don't use heat packs. They make the package heavier, still may not protect the plant from cold. If you need the plant now, tender plants are shipped by priority mail. Don't leave the package sitting at your front door until you get home from work. Have it delivered to your work address.
Q: A leaf, stem, pad, or branch was broken when the plant arrived.
A: Cactus and succulent plants typically propagate by fallen leaves and stems. So this is actually a benefit. Just let the new cutting callus over for a week or two, then plant it in a new pot. You now have a new free plant.
Q: I'm in Las Vegas. Can I pick up the plants to save on shipping?
A: We're are Internet only and do not have a local retail shop. We do offer local delivery with full payment of shipping. If visiting Las Vegas, please visit Moon-sunlandscaping.com or springpreserve.org. They both have good selection of cactus and succulent plants.
Q: I'm in Nevada. Do I need to pay sales tax?
A: You need to pay sales tax.
Q: Do you accept returns or exchanges?
A: All sales are final. No returns.
Q: My plants arrived on the dry side. Will they be okay?
A: Yes. It's hard to keep them hydrated here in Las Vegas. We get 5 months of plus 100 degree days with almost zero per cent humidity. Then, we need to stop watering in fall to prepare for winter. However, they are succulent plants and will plump up in a more humid climate.
