SHIPPING FAQs

What shipping carriers and services do you offer?

We principally ship via United Parcel Service (UPS) Ground with tracking and insurance for the value of the item. UPS Ground has guaranteed day of delivery to all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Expedited services - Next Day, 2nd Day and 3-Day Select - are available as well, please contact us for a quote.

We ship some smaller items through the U.S. Postal Service, using their Priority Mail service. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and Peurto Rico are generally sent via USPS as well. USPS shipments include delivery confirmation, which will show that the parcel has arrived at the delivery address but does not provide detailed tracking information or insurance. Signature confirmation, insurance, and other tracking services are available at additional cost.

We do not have a FEDEX account. We can only ship via FEDEX if all arrangements are made by the customer, including necessary labeling and arranging a pickup. A packing fee will apply to such packages.

We also offer freight service for very large items or quantities that make it impossible or cost-prohibitive to ship via UPS. We use Freightquote.com to arrange for freight, and to create an estimate. Customers are also encouraged to arrange their own freight transportation. A standard $35 pallet packing fee will apply to all freight shipments, regardless of who arranges and pays for freight costs.

If you require insurance for freight transport, please provide your own (sometimes available through business insurance) or request it ahead of time from us. We cannot be held liable for any damage in transit to freight shipments.

If you are working on getting your own freight quote, we have a dock and forklift for loading (this is useful information for estimate purposes).

How long does delivery take via UPS Ground?

UPS Ground service takes between one and six business days depending on distance. We are located in Seattle, WA. Business days are Monday through Friday and do not include weekends or holidays. For transit maps, see http://www.ups.com/maps?loc=en_US.

For example, if you are on the West Coast the UPS Ground transit time is one to three business days; on the East Coast it will most likely be in transit for five business days - a full week. In other words, if sent on a Friday, you'll receive it the next Friday. PLEASE NOTE: UPS transit estimates do not include the day a parcel is picked up, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or our packing time. Most items ship within one business day of payment clearing, but shipping backlogs do occasionally occur.

PLEASE NOTE: Payment must be cleared before we ship your item. PayPal "Instant Payment" eChecks take approximately four business days to process from your bank account. PayPal Instant Payments via credit card really are instant (with a confirmed address). We usually ship most items within one business days of payment clearing, and can often ship on the day we receive your payment. We normally ship Monday through Friday and are closed on major holidays.

Can you ship via UPS Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air or 3-Day Select instead of Ground?

Yes, if you've looked at the UPS Ground Time-In-Transit map and the estimated delivery time is not quick enough for your needs, you may opt for a faster service provided that you let us know right away (before it's shipped) and pay the difference in shipping costs. Please note that 3-Day Select is usually about twice the cost of Ground and 2nd Day and Next Day Air are even more expensive!

If you'd like to change to a faster UPS service, please email us through eBay from the item description page BEFORE PAYING since the shipping amount will be incorrect. It would be helpful if you mention what day you would like it delivered and/or what service you'd like (3-Day Select, 2nd Day or Next Day Air). We will then pack, weigh and measure your parcel and email you an updated invoice. If you have already paid for Ground shipping and would like to upgrade to Air service, please contact us right away and we can arrange payment for the difference.

How are the shipping charges calculated?

We use the UPS Rate Calculator which is available through eBay. Rates are calculated using the weight and size of the item and the distance from our zip code to yours. We are always happy to combine shipments when possible to save you money.

How much will shipping and handling be for the item I'm interested in purchasing or bidding on?

Enter your shipping address ZIP CODE in the shipping rate calculator in the listing for a quote. The calculator is on the "Shipping and payments" tab next to the item description tab, just below the photo at the top of the listing.

Some items may ship free on a promotional basis. Please check the listing details!

Is there a packaging & handling fee?

Yes, for most listings there is a small packaging fee that covers the cost of the box and packing materials - usually no more than a few dollars. There is usually no handling fee, i.e. no charge for the time spent in preparing the shipment. This lowers shipping costs and means that your total cost is as low as possible.

How do I get a tracking number for my package?

We will post tracking details on eBay when your items ships, and you will receive an order update email from eBay at that time. That information will also be visible on your "My eBay" Purchase History. Additionally, our UPS shipping system sends an email (we use the email address provided with your payment) when your order is processed. Some spam filters or anti-virus software may block those messages, so please check your mail folders or eBay record if you have not been notified about your shipping within a few days of making payment.

How do I track my shipment?

Once you receive the tracking number, you may track it at the UPS website, http://www.ups.com/tracking/tracking.html or call them at 1-800-PICK-UPS. You can track up to 25 packages via this utility on the UPS website. (Please remember you must check the box agreeing to their terms and conditions before UPS will retrieve the tracking information.)

Why can't I track my shipment? Why doesn't UPS recognize my tracking number?

It can take several hours for a shipment to register in the UPS computer system once it leaves our building. This is the most common reason for a tracking number not being found, and simply checking again later will usually get proper results. Rarely, there may be network issues which prevent shipping information from reaching UPS and our upload is delayed. A typo in the tracking number will also yield incorrect results.

Will you ship outside of the United States?

Sorry, due to payment issues and high shipping costs, we do not generally ship internationally. For higher value items we may be able to make arrangements to accommodate your needs, please contact us to discuss the details.

How many times will UPS attempt delivery?

UPS will attempt delivery up to three times. They will leave a note at the delivery address if they attempted delivery and no one was present to sign for the package.

Can I ship to a PO Box via UPS?

No, you cannot. UPS requires a street address for delivery and does not have access to the U.S. Postal Service or any other mail boxes. If PO Box delivery is best for you, please contact us and we can make arrangements to send your item through USPS.

What is the UPS Holiday Schedule for 2011?

In the United States, UPS observes the following holidays:

May 30: Memorial Day: No pickup or delivery service.

July 4: Independence Day: No pickup or delivery service.

September 5: Labor Day: No pickup or delivery service.

November 24: Thanksgiving: No pickup or delivery service.

November 25: Day after Thanksgiving Day: Delivery and pickup of air and international packages only

December 26: Christmas (Observed): No pickup or delivery service.

December 31: New Year´s Eve: Not a business day. No pickup or delivery service.

January 2, 2012: New Year's Day (Observed): Delivery and pickup of air and international packages only

I'm local to the Seattle area, can I pick up my item instead of having it shipped?

You are welcome to pick up purchase at our retail location. We do not charge a pick-up fee and you save shipping and handling costs. You also have the opportunity to take a look at the many items that aren't available in our eBay store. Our stock changes every day, sometimes by the hour!
